Passive Voice


PASSIVE VOICE
Passive voice is used when the focus is on the action. It is not important or not known, however, who or what is perfoming the action
Example : My bike was stolen.
 In the example above, the focus is on the fact that my bike was stolen. I do not know, however, who did it.
Sometime a statement in passive is more polite that active, as the following example shows :
Example A mistake was made
          In this case, I focus on the fact that a mistake was made, but I do not blame anyone

EXAMPLE
Simple Present tense
§  Hendra kicks the ball over the fence

NB : Passive voice= red colur
 
          The Ball is kicked over the fence
Simple past tense                                      
§  Rere gave the magazine to us
          The magazine is given to us by Rere
Present continuous tense
§  He is polishing the shoes
          The shoes is being polished
§  Modal
          He will paint the wall
          The wall will be painted
§  Present perfect tense
          They have finished the job already
          The job has been finished already
